OLs About Us

Old Laurentian Rugby Football Club was founded in 1919 and is based in Rugby, the home of the game. We are privileged to play on the magnificent pitches at Fenley Fields, donated by The Old Laurentian Society for the benefit of ex-pupils of the school and local sports enthusiasts. OLRFC are committed to provide amateur rugby with traditional rugby club hospitality for like-minded players and supporters. In this professional age we believe our ethos has kept us at the forefront of local rugby with a very strong supporter base.

Our 1st XV are currently in Midlands Division Two West (South) where we contested strongly for promotion during the 2008/9 season only to fail at the final stages. We have aspirations for promotion this season aided by improvements to our coaching team and the gym.

The 2nd's are, this season, playing in the Warwickshire I League and are already showing their class by a series of quality performances in the early part of the season.

Having finished runners up in the Warwickshire III league last season, the 3rd's decided it was time to revert to a more social type of rugby rather than move up to a highly competitive Division. A mixture of young, developing talent combined with ...... shall we say .... years of experience, is hoped to be a useful tool for the continued strengthening of our squads.

Thanks to a vibrant social side OLRFC are keen tourists, we have built up strong links with teams from far and wide, specifically Minneapolis RFC www.metropolisrugby.com whom we have hosted and visited for over 20 years. We are delighted to confirm that we are working on a visit to Minneapolis again in 2011.

OLRFC welcome players of all standards and ages who are looking to play rugby in a friendly and sociable environment so why not have a look around this site or visit us on a Tuesday or Thursday training evening or Saturday afternoon.

Many members and former players form a special category within the club - these are our Vice Presidents who are an important body within OLs. We are grateful for their involvement and contribution to the Club.
