This week

The 1st XV face Earlsdon in the Warwickshire Cup on Wednesday night, k.o 7:30 at Earlsdon. Team selections>

The 1st XV travelled to fifth placed Barkers Butts knowing that it's always a tough match at Barkers. This weekend was no exception but they proved their resilience by turning round a half-time deficit to record a 35-17 victory.

Both sides were victims of some questionable decisions which disrupted the flow of the game. Both sets of supporters felt that less whistle and more rugby would have provided a more entertaining game.

OL's upped their tempo after a relatively poor first half performance with "lethal striker" Si Bayliss running in a hat-trick of second half tries.

This match was selected as the annual VP Away Day and we would like to thank Barkers Butts for their hospitality and for allowing a minutes silence in respect to our former player, supporter and VP, Kevin "KJ" Jones. Their courtesy is much appreciated. The return coach trip to Rugby innevitably included a 'KJ Tribute Band' version of "Three Wheels on My Wagon"! Photos>

The 2nd XV visited Stratford knowing that they needed to get back to winning ways and duly turned in a great display against a strong side to run out 26-7 winners. Another hat-trick of tries was recorded in this match by the returning from injury Matt Miller.

The 3rd XV were scheduled to entertain Loughborough and were surprised to see a group of young lads turn up to face the wiley experience of a veteran squad. Did age and fitness overcome cunning and deviousness (if that's a real word)? Let's wait to see Tim's match report!

Last Week's News

Clinical finishing gave the OL's 1st XV a convincing 45-19 win over a strong and well-drilled Kidderminster side.

Factoid of the day must go to 2nd row Paul Willis, who, despite playing eleven seasons at OL's, opened the scoring with his first ever try for the 1st XV at Fenley Field. photo of historic event>

Despite having sustained periods of possession and territory, the visitors couldn't cope with an in-form OL side who are really performing in all phases of play.

Kidderminster never gave up and got a couple of late tries for their efforts.

Last week's postponed 2nd XV league match away at bottom of the table Barkers Butts was rearranged and an interesting squad was available for the home side, who surprisingly ran out 25-12 victors. Will questions be asked??

The 3rd XV entertained Southam II at Fenley Field and lost a close fought tussle 6-12. match report> (along with a few well chosen and highly appropriate words on KJ)

Sport Relief

The Mini rugby section has organised "The Rugby Mile" in aid of Sport Relief on Sunday 21st March, when most of the Minis will be taking part in aid of this worthwhile charity.

You can "join the team" and take part (you can walk it if you want)... or simply just make a donation (if you're really past your prime!).

To do either and see how they're getting on with donations, visit the OL's Sport Relief website>
