RFU Notice

MESSAGES ON FACEBOOK

Peter Tolan from the Referees Society has informed me that he has been told that individuals from some clubs are posting messages on Facebook and other social networking/web forums commenting on their next opponents in derogatory and threatening terms and warning of what might happen in the game.

He has no hard evidence of this at the moment and I have asked him to obtain it if he can.

However at this stage I think it is only right for me to advise all clubs that if this is found to be happening the individuals (and possibly the club as well) can be disciplined by the RFU for bringing the game into disrepute. I know that the RFU are drafting a policy on this but in the meantime please make sure all of your players and members are made aware that if they indulge in this practice it could cause a lot of problems for themselves and their club

Celebrations go with a bang!

The pyro technicians (they lit the fireworks!) flitting around in the shadows were Arwel Jones, Reiner Ferguson, Keith Finch and Guy Murphy – thanks, guys, for a great display, probably the best in recent years. Keith, Reiner and Tim Dougherty had previously put a lot of effort into building the bonfire ready for Arwel to put the finishing touches on his return from New Zealand. It went up beautifully when Arwel applied his matches to it!

Marshalling the car park and gate stewards was Mike Warwick and his very able and hardworking lieutenants were Garrie Reeve, Ricky Reed, Sam Herman, Matt Miller, Iain Wallis and Steve Pike who did a great job getting everyone in and parked.

Running the outside bar were Bernie and Paul Willis, aided (or was it hindered!) by Jenny Burdett and Jodi and Dani Roderick. Helen’s daughter Chloe manned the kids bar and did a roaring trade in sweets, drinks and glow bracelets. And where would we have been without our very able and always helpful bar team, led by Chris and Helen, who coped wonderfully well during a very busy evening for them.

As well as a great evening’s entertainment, the event made a very useful profit for club funds – so everyone, including the Treasurer, is happy.

New website layout

Welcome to the slightly revised website layout with a big thanks to a number of members who helped by providing feedback during a testing period.

We have retained the main navigation tabs and added a few new options which we hope members will use to submit information and stories that may be of interest.

Having carried out "pre-launch" tests, we believe this new layout will open in a wider range of web browsers (it seems to work particularly well if you use Google Chrome), which you can download free at Google Chrome.

It will also provide more flexibility and allow us to add more features in the future.

We hope you enjoy the new site and any comments, suggestions or ideas would be welcome >send comments
