Sevens competition
OLs entered a team in the Barkers Butts 7s tournament and put in some great performances to finish Runners-up with a very creditable performance against international 7s specialists Ronin Warriors A, losing the final 12-24. OLs won all of their pool games including a 31-7 win over Broadstreet and a superb 24-7 victory over the Ronin B squad. photos>
Accomodation needed
We are expecting another American player for the coming season, in addition to Adam Dilley, who is already confirmed.
Mike Prince will be moving to Minneapolis to join the Metropolis club in the spring of 2011 and has expressed a real interest in coming over to OLs to further his rugby education in the meantime.
So we are looking for accomodation for Mike for six months, probably from September.If any OL members are able to put him up, or can offer any suggestions, please contact Dan Volkman, Bill Wallis or Colin Wiles.
For the record, Mike is a Texan who has spent a few years at Missouri State University, where he played in the football team as an offensive lineman and took up rugby in his final year. Standing around 6' 3" and weighing in at around 280 lbs (20 stone) you will need to provide a large bed if you can accomodate him. - Thanks

The following email was received and is a very kind gesture, particularly in view of the season that Newbold have gone through.
I am just emailing to congratulate the club and it's players on gaining promotion this season on behalf of Newbold RFC. Carl and the players have had a fantastic season and fully deserve every accolade they receive, as do the club and it's structure and ethos on the whole. The two best teams this year have been promoted.
All the best for next season and I genuinely hope you can build on this year’s success.

Hopefully, next year's calendar will allow the chance to have some form of home and away "friendlies" (perhaps a team of 5x 1sts, 5x 2nds and 5x 3rds/Vets) to maintain our rivalry, friendship and general disagreements with Paul Bale Snr!
